TANCET is conducted on a yearly basis by consortium of self-financing professional, Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu also called as TNSF consortium. If a candidate wishes to do ME, M. Tech, MBA or MCA course offered by the colleges specified in the consortium can take up the TANCET exam. TANCET MBA exam is conducted for admitting students to the MBA course in the colleges listed in the TNSF Consortium.
Candidates who successfully clear the TANCET examination will be called for counseling on the basis of the rank got by them. No interview or Group discussion is conducted by Anna University under TANCET examination.
The TANCET examination is conducted for two hours for a total of 100 questions with each question carrying one mark. There is also a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
According to Anna University every year roughly 60000 students take up the TANCET examination. The total number of seats for TANCET MBA in Anna University is 60 out of which seven seats are reserved for schedule caste and seven seats are reserved for schedule tribe candidates. Apart from this, ten seats are reserved for MBC candidates and 18 seats are reserved for BC candidates. The remaining 18 seats are for candidates of other castes.
