For a period of more than two centuries paleontologists have been intrigued by the fossilized remains of pterosaurs, the first flying vertebrates. The issues, which puzzle them, are how these heavy creatures, having a wingspan of about 8-12 meters managed the various problems associated with powered flight and whether these creatures were reptiles or birds.

Perhaps the least controversial assertion about the pterosaurs is that they were reptiles. Their skulls, pelvises, and hind feet are reptilian. The anatomy of their wings suggests that they did not evolve into the class of birds. In pterosaurs a greatly elongated fourth finger of each forelimb supported a winglike membrane. The other fingers were short and reptilian, with sharp claws. In birds the second finger is the principal strut of the wing, which consists primarily of feathers. If the pterosaurs walked on all fours, the three short fingers may have been employed for grasping. When a pterosaurs walked or remained stationary, the fourth finger, and with it the wing, could only urn upward in an extended inverted V- shape along each side of the animal's body.

In resemblance they were extremely similar to both birds and bats, with regard to their overall body structure and proportion. This is hardly surprising as the design of any flying vertebrate is subject to aerodynamic constraints. Both the pterosaurs and the birds have hollow bones, a feature that represents a savings in weight. There is a difference, which is that the bones of the birds are more massively reinforced by internal struts.

Although scales typically cover reptiles, the pterosaurs probably had hairy coats. T.H. Huxley reasoned that flying vertebrates must have been warm-blooded because flying implies a high rate of metabolism, which in turn implies a high internal temperature. Huxley speculated that a coat of hair would insulate against loss of body heat and might streamline the body to reduce drag in flight. The recent discovery of a pterosaur specimen covered in long, dense, and relatively thick hair like fossil material was the first clear evidence that his reasoning was correct.

Some paleontologists are of the opinion that the pterosaurs jumped from s dropped from trees or perhaps rose into the light winds from the crests of waves in order to become airborne. Each theory has its associated difficulties. The first makes a wrong assumption that the pterosaurs hind feet resembled a bat's and could serve as hooks by which the animal could hang in preparation for flight. The second hypothesis seems unlikely because large pterosaurs could not have landed in trees without damaging their wings. The third calls for high aces to channel updrafts. The pterosaurs would have been unable to control their flight once airborne as the wind from which such waves arose would have been too strong.

Behind the trees was a door of solid metal painted a battleship gray Stretching to either side were concrete walls with metal grates bolted over the openings in the sides. Lines marked parking places where my parents had laid wooden planks to ease the ache and chill on their feet. Where the old-fashioned glass store counter had been was a row of cars. I looked past the steel I-beams that formed the columns and ceiling of the garage, peering through the dimness in an attempt to locate where my father's garden had been; but there was only an endless stretch of cars within the painted stalls. We called it the garden though that was stretching the definition of the word because it was only a small, narrow cement courtyard on the north side of our apartment house. There was only a brief time during the day when the sun could reach the tiny courtyard; but fuchsia bushes, which loved the shade, grew as tall as trees from the dirt plot there. Next to it my father had fashioned shelves from old hundred-pound rice cans and planks; and on these makeshift shelves he had his miniature flower patches growing in old soda pop crates from which he had removed the wooden dividers. He would go out periodically to a wholesale nursery by the beach and load the car with boxes full of little flowers and seedlings which he would lovingly transplant in his shadowy garden. If you compared our crude little garden to your own backyards, you would probably laugh; and yet the cats in the neighborhood loved my father's garden almost as much as he did--to his great dismay The cats loved to roll among the flowers, crushing what were just about the only green growing things in the area. Other times, they ate them-perhaps as a source of greens. Whatever the case, my father could have done without their destructive displays of appreciation. I don't know where my father came by his love of growing things. He had come to San Francisco as a boy and, except for a brief time spent picking fruit, had lived most of his life among cement, brick, and asphalt. I hadn't thought of my father's garden in years; and yet it was the surest symbol of my father. Somehow he could persuade flowers to grow within the old, yellow soda pop crates though the sun seldom touched them; and he could coax green shoots out of what seemed like lifeless sticks. His was the gift of renewal. However, though I stared and stared, I could not quite figure out where it had been. Everything looked the same; more concrete and more cars. Store, home and garden had all been torn down and replaced by something as cold, massive and impersonal as a prison. Even if I could have gone through the gate, there was nothing for me inside there. If I wanted to return to that lost garden, I would have to go back into my own memories. Award-winning author Laurence Yep did return to his father's garden in his memories. The results have come at night 11:45, That was memorable night, my name was in the shortlisted who are selected for Wipro. There were about 800-900 appeared for the test 300-400 have cleared the written 130 have cleared the interview 120 have got selected.

I am posting the Polaris interview experience with you all. I attended it on Jan 22, 2010.

Interview process consists of 3 steps:
1. Written test
2. GD
3. Technical HR

The Written Test consists of General Maths, GK, Verbal questions. No negative marking.http://www.ChetanaS.org
In Aptitude section, the questions were from all chapters in R.S.Aggarwal. The questions were asked only from that book and even the data were not changed. The questions were not from the example part but the problems part. Questions from Time & Work, Time & Distance, Partnership, Train, Boats & Streams, Pipes were all there.

In the GK section, questions like - which is the land of the rising Sun (ans: Japan), in which country was Olympic inaugurated, etc were asked.

In the Verbal section, paragraphs will be given and we have to select the best option after reading the para. Then error correction was asked.

The written test was easy. It was an off-campus so many people attended.http://www.ChetanaS.org
The second round was GD. Topics such as
1. Are women really a weaker sex?
2. Should students enter into politics?

After this round, Technical HR round. In this they asked basic questions from C. They asked to write a simple program. They just check your confidence level.

So, once you clear the GD, this round is easy. This is my experience. Hope it will be useful for Polaris aspirants :)

Mahindra Satyam conducted an offcampus drive at pragati engineering college on 30th may 2010.

It consists of three rounds:
Written test
Technical interview
HR Interview

Written Test consists of 6 sections. It was an online based test of 1hr which consists of 100 questions and no negative marking.

The sections are as follows:
1) Quantitative Ability
2) Reasoning verbal
3) Reasoning Non verbal
4) English-1
5) English-2
6) English-3

Quantitative ability consists of the questions mostly from following models: Ratio proportions, simple interest and compound interest, allegation mixtures etc…http://www.ChetanaS.org
Reasoning sections covered all the models like calendars, blood relations, coding & decoding, Image based problems etc…

English-1 consists of 3 passages in which one is very easy and other 2 are moderate levels.

English-2 consists of synonyms and antonyms

English-3 consists of fill in the blanks with appropriate words. It is all based on general grammar like prepositions.

From all the above sections I found reasoning is very easy for me and also time taking.

The interface of the test is very good and user friendly. We can switch from one section to another in any time, but we have to click save before switching.

Out of all only 28 students got selected in written and they asked these 28 students to fill an application form which consists of basic data like academic details etc. In last page it consists an essay writing of 200 words. We have to write about yourself in the essay writing.

Technical round:

1) He asked me to write all the programming languages and databases I know on a paper.

2) What is encapsulation?

3) What are different shells?

4) How can you say that c is a procedure oriented language?

5) What is a function?

6) Explain the control flow of a program which consists of 5 functions?

8) Explain your project?
ANS: I explained my project which I done on php.

9) What is php?

10) Why did u choose php for your project?

11) Explain the tools, servers, databases used for your project.

12) Write a query to retrieve the student data based on least five marks in a student table.

These are the questions asked for me and for most of the students interviewer asked the concepts of DBMS and C programs like string reversing, number sequences, matrix multiplication and searching sorting techniques etc.

HR Round:

In HR round he asked the basic questions.

1) Tell me about yourself
While answering he read the essay which we wrote previously with application form.

2) Why should I select you
Me: I am hardworker…….

Q: I need smart worker.
Me: till now I did hardwork and from now I will do smart work.

Q: What is the guarantee that you will do smart work

I expected many more questions from him but he asked to leave and wait for the result.

At last 22 students were selected and I was one among them.

INDIAN AIRFORCE EKT PAPER - 04 AUG 2010

It was an objective type question paper... 1 hr duration.. no calculations at all. There were 75 questions in total-
Part A - General Engg 40 questions
Part B - Special paper (mine was Electronics n Comm)-35 questions

Part A
Well I dont know why they call it the General Engg paper as most of the questions wr from the Thermodynamics (12 th std)
1. on adiabatic and isothermal processes
2. carnot cycle
3. entropy change in adiabatic n isothermal processes

5. some simple questions on RLC networks
6. some questions on chemistry better to say elctrical engg material science (superconductivity etc)
7. digital -binary of 100 n mux
There were hardly any questions from basic electronics n most of this part of the paper felt like a 12th std physics paper

Part B
If u study George Kennedy well then you'll get most of the questions
1. communication mainly satellite n antennas (geosynchronous, antenna gain)
2. no questions from rec n transmitter n semiconductor devices used in the microwave range (ie none from IMPATT n all those negative resistances devices)
3. try n cover the conceptual logics
4.little questions from modulation like nyquist rate
5.no questions from radar, control engg
6.wave propagation was in plenty.. all those layers (D E F)
Best if u attend to all the questions given at the end of Kennedy.. that was quite useful

Overall... you'll get thru the paper if u know yr concepts well but thermodynamics in the paper was uncalled for (55 % or more of the general engg paper constituted of it) Anyways...BEST OF LUCK

After shortlisted candiate from first technical interview. In some deeply ask questions from Data structure Also DBMS Query, C, C++ Program

After finish your Second Technical interview HR Interview will conduct after 15 days. In ISoft first select all candidate for only trainee not Associate Software Engineer. After 6 Months Training The position will change.

The written was really very easy it consists of 10 comprehension passage, 20 aptitude, 15 reasoning n 15 technical. u have to be carefull about technical. there is sectional cutoff. we attended nearly 800 for written; out of 800 only 56 through the written, one has to remember each n every round is elemination round

In GD 10 per batch. they will give each one seperate topic n gave 2 mins. in that 2 mins 1 min to think about n remaining time to speak about it. I got the topic "Should smoking be banned?" in this round only 20 out of 56 were sent to the next round

In Technical round each one has interviewed for nearly half an hour to one hour. I belong to electrical branch my technical experience is as follows
Me: May i come in sir?
Hr: Yes
Me: Good Evening sir (with good smilimg face)
Hr: Well Manoj! u r this much energetic even at this time (8:45 PM)
Me: I m always energetic sir
Hr: What is the secret behind this manoj?
Me: Explained
Hr: k how will u rate ur self in C between 1 to 10 ? 1 is very low n 10 is very high?

and a simple English objective book
solve some puzzles also
during test maintain the speed ...

[B]&[C] Tech & HR Interview:
After that Tech and HR was common for us
in HCL interview they asked some very simple questions like
1. tell me something abt your self ?
2. abt software project management.... some basics ? (this question based on your area of interest)
3. oracle9i and 10g ?
4. xml ?
5. basics of java ?
6. advance technologies in java ?
7. if I wont select so what will be the reasons ?
8. if you dont know any technology and I will give you work based on that tech. how will you do?

You have to be very good in English and communication skills
for some of my friends the questions was like based on
multi-threading, iso-osi model, process model, stack and queue, oops, sql-query,
=>don't go for ONLY these questions be ready for any technical and HR question
focus on your area of interest and some basic subjects like
C, C++, JAVA, DS, DB, SOFTY, OS, N/W,
and 1 more thing...... they are really nice people.....
just be honest, be cool, and most important is be confident....

In the night @ 8.30 they disclosed the results and I was there.. in the list...
total 42/180+ students are selected
(From MCA me and my two more friends total 3/25+)...

So now onwards I am a part of HCL family...

About written test it is very easy

i). Verbal -- very very easy
preposition(4), articals(3), comprehension (10)

ii). Quantitative -- som problems frm --> venn diagram (5-6 probs),

-->n som more problems. i don't remember them...but they are really easy....
no need to ref. any books for preparation (i think so).

iii). Attention to detail -- very easy -->1. a. PLMABNKO b.PLMABOKN c. PLMABNKO. Which one is different? (4-5 ques)
-->2. * is represented as-; - s rep. as / ; / s rep as +; +s rep. as - . What is the value of 5/3*6-2? (4-5)ques)
-->3. Decision Making.
and after this written test v have to write an Essay.for me the topic s "My intresting subject". Friends don worry about eassy no marks s there for that but they ll see while u sit for HR round.

Next round s GD. My topic was "DRESS CODE S NECESSARY FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS R NOT".
in my panel all the 16 students shared their points very well.I have never seen an GD like this before. Because competition was very tight. finally 11/16 cleared GD luckely am one among them.

Next round was TECHNICAL ROUND
after GD they told as to leave and come for interview on the next day morning 9am. after that v left and came back on 28 march 2010.

INT: ya good morning please take ur seat.

INT: let me know about ur self.
ME: told...in that itself i mentioned my paper presenation.
INT: may i know about ur paper??
ME: yes sir sure and i expained. he asked some doubts i cleared it.
INT: saw my consolidated marksheet and asked what do u study in data structure sub??
ME: i told some basic things what i remember.
INT: k...what do u study in electron devices sub??
ME: i told.
INT: wht do u know about DBMS.??
ME: sir am ECE background i havent studied that sub.
INT: let it b what do u know??
ME: i told that it ll used for storing database of any thing eg.for storing students infoin the school and it ll be used as backend.if dotnet like that used as front end.acctually i donno any thing about DBMS i was confidently saying just to manage the situation.my advice is that even if u donno any thing u say it confidently.
INT: ohh k...wait for ur result.

I came out after 5min one person from merit track told that i have cleared tech round. he told me to take lunch and come back after 2.30 pm.
now am waiting for my HR
some of peoples who attend HR were saying that there s more rejection in HR. one side i was afraid but one the other side i was very confident.

I was waiting outside. one person from meri track came to me and asked me to go down and wait there.
After some time one person came with the list and asked the persons who he reads want to go to seminar hall. we all went there. There they said that I have got selected. I was not able to belive in myself. I was very happy that I have got placed in accenture.
finally HIGH PREFORMANCE DELIVERED...
